About TEF

Tech Europe Foundation is a European non-profit infrastructure built to translate scientific excellence into Deep Tech ventures. Backed by Bocconi, Politecnico di Milano, ION Foundation, FSI and the Milan Chamber of Commerce, TEF operates across three entities - TEF Foundation (ecosystem building), TEF Bridge (real estate and startup consulting) and TEF Fund (pre-seed and seed investments) - and is currently scaling toward 1,000 startups/year and €1bn raised by 2030.

The Role

In a nutshell

We're looking for our first in-house legal hire to help us build the legal infrastructure of the Foundation. The role covers governance, TEF’s contractual architecture, IP, Privacy, and any and all legal matters pertaining to a fast-growing organization.

You'll report directly to the CEO and work across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Support TEF Foundation's governance and legal structure: group relationships (Foundation, TEF Bridge srl, TEF Fund SIS), statutory filings and corporate housekeeping
• Draft agreements with affiliate universities and research institutions - academic partnerships, spin-off formation, IP
• Draft TEF’s proprietary programs legal frameworks, whether they be with researchers, students or startups
• Ensure GDPR compliance and support privacy-related questions across the organization
• Handle the legal side of TEF's international institutional relationships: MoUs and collaboration frameworks with international partners
• Manage civil and tax law matters relevant to a nonprofit foundation, alongside external advisors
• Own TEF's contracts repository and develop standard legal templates as the organization scales
• Research and develop legal positions in areas where established frameworks don't yet exist
• Develop a legal framework and templates to support our students, researchers and startups who want to start a company do so systematically and at scale.
